Never have so many enjoyed so much from so few. Polo enthusiast Winston Churchill knew it well—polo is a small, global fraternity of players, but the allure of just eight athletes thundering across a sunlit field in some of the world’s most desirable locations captivates droves of devotees on the sidelines everywhere.

Now, America’s oldest polo club invites you to step onto that field. Newport Polo is seeking fresh talent for its 2025 Rookie of the Year—welcoming adventurous newcomers to try the 3,000-year-old sport through our Adult Polo Lessons.

Our progressive training program makes polo more accessible than ever:

• Intro Clinics and weekly co-ed lessons for adults and teens
• Open enrollment so you can start anytime, play often, and advance quickly
• Trained polo ponies, professional gear, and certified instruction provided

No riding experience? No problem. Many players mount up for the first time at their first lesson. If you’ve got hand-eye coordination, balance, fitness, or sports experience, you have the building blocks to thrive in polo’s fast-paced, physically demanding arena.

Your journey begins with group lessons in our regulation-size outdoor arena, then progresses to arena chukkers, tournaments, and—by summer—training on grass. Advancing players join the Club’s Coaching League, gaining real-match experience with expert guidance.

From there, the possibilities open wide: a full grass season, an official USPA handicap, and perhaps one day, a place in the Newport International Polo Series.
