Earlier this month, Team Morocco arrived in style and quickly dove into a week of exploration, relaxation, and celebration. After check-in at the stunning Hammett’s Hotel, their itinerary kicked off with a sunset sail aboard the Schooner Madeleine, where the Atlantic breeze and harbor views set the tone for the week ahead. From there, the team’s days were filled with a mix of adventure and elegance. They began with an iconic Newport Jaguar Tour, winding through historic streets and oceanside vistas, with a lunch stop along Ocean Drive. They toured The Newport Mansions, took in breathtaking views along the Cliff Walk, and visited the Audrain Auto Museum, International Tennis Hall of Fame, and more. Their waterfront exploration included a Gansett Cruise, a visit to Fort Adams, and a scenic picnic at Eisenhower House Lawn. Evenings were reserved for cocktail receptions and dining at local favorites like Clarke Cooke House. On Saturday, they faced off against Team USA, and following a thrilling match, they celebrated at our field-side Après Polo party with dinner and dancing under the stars.
Soon after, Team Scotland touched down for their first Newport appearance in nearly a decade. Their experience was filled with the same mix of rich history and seaside fun tailored with a distinct Highland flair. They began their stay on the water with Sea Newport, taking in the breeze on a half day swimming excursion. Then, Island Adventure provided electric bikes for a self-guided tour of Newport’s charming neighborhoods and coastline. They soaked up sun at Gooseberry Beach, strolled the Cliff Walk, and made time for the lawn at Castle Hill Inn. Indoor excursions brought them to The Newport Mansions, the Audrain Auto Museum, and the Tennis Hall of Fame, where they marveled at architecture, innovation, and athletic legacy. On Friday, the team was treated to a “Clan Gathering” cocktail reception and dinner at Clarke Cooke House, in a nod to Scottish hospitality and tradition. Their Saturday match against Team USA brought intense competition, followed by another unforgettable Après Polo celebration and nightcap in town. Their visit ended with a memorable Sunday sail aboard one of Newport’s many ticketed excursions, a fitting farewell to their Newport adventure.
This week, we turn our attention to Team Italy, who have just arrived for what promises to be another unforgettable chapter in our 2025 season. With a thoughtfully curated itinerary in store and our amazing partners ready to deliver once again we can’t wait to live vicarious through their photos. From tennis on the historic grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the days before Maria Sharapova & company are inducted, to flying kites with the pros at Brenton Point. A morning ride on electric bikes from Island Adventures brings the manicured estates and coastal roads up close and personal. An afternoon sail with America’s Cup Charters’ historic fleet of champion 12 meter racing yachts is an iconic Newport experience. Then, as sponsors of Waterfire, Newport Polo takes the teams to Providence to light up the night at Waterfire on the eve of their historic showdown on the turf.
It’s easy to think of Newport Polo as just a game. But what makes our International Series truly special is the global camaraderie and local hospitality that define every visit. The teamwork off the field—from our lodging and transport partners to the small businesses that open their doors is just as vital as the plays on the field.
Thanks to the unwavering support of these attractions and tourism service experts, we offer every team a chance to experience Newport in full color from its storied past to its modern spirit, from its vibrant coastline to its charming downtown. From sailing to sipping, exploring to celebrating, our international ambassadors are in for the full Newport experience! Players leave with more than just stories from the pitch – they carry abroad memories of sailing, tasting, biking, learning, and living like locals.
