A halftime divot stomp is a fun polo tradition where spectators walk onto the field to help replace torn-up grass divots left by the horses. It’s a social moment that blends utility with style, often accompanied by mingling and photo ops.
Golden Divot Hunt
The Gold Divot Stomp at Newport Polo takes place at the end of the match, when spectators are invited onto the field during Golden Hour to stomp divots and search for a hidden gold trinket. The lucky guest who finds it wins a special prize, adding a fun and festive twist to this classic polo tradition.
Autograph Signing
After the match between Newport Polo and Morocco, spectators are invited to enjoy a player autograph signing, offering a chance to meet the athletes, snap photos, and collect signatures as a memorable keepsake from the international showdown.
Trophy Presentation
The trophy presentation takes place in the center of the field immediately following the match, where both teams gather for awards, photos, and celebration in front of the crowd. Spectators are welcome to approach for a closer view and join in the festive conclusion.

A tradition, started at Newport Polo and also known as the “sweaty hand slap”., concludes the match with a spirited victory lap honoring fans’ enthusiasm and now embraced by polo club’s worldwide.
