There will be considerably more than four-legged horsepower turning heads at Newport Polo this Saturday. Its uprated 2.0-liter AMG engine produces 416 bhp, propelling it from 0–62 mph in 3.9 seconds and on to 186 mph. Lotus calls it the fastest four-cylinder production car in the world today. Aston Martin Vanquish Volante — Topless Royalty
If Worth Avenue Whites had an official motorcar, the Vanquish Volante could make a persuasive case. Aston Martin describes it as the fastest and most powerful open-top production Aston Martin ever: a carbon-fiber-bodied grand tourer powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 producing 824 hp. It reaches 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 214 mph. Ferocious performance wrapped in exquisitely tailored British elegance—rather appropriate company for Newport vs. Palm Beach.
Aston Martin DBX707 — The Supercar of SUVs
Then comes the one that refuses to choose between practicality and outrageousness. The DBX707 packs a hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 697 hp, launches from 0–60 mph in 3.1 seconds, and can reach 193 mph. Aston Martin rather aptly calls it the “supercar of SUVs.” Five seats may suggest sensible transportation to polo; the racing-grade wet-clutch transmission, carbon-ceramic brakes and 663 lb-ft of torque suggest something altogether less restrained.
