First Reveal: Jamaica & England Ride In for the 150th Diamond Jubilee
The journey to our 150th Diamond Jubilee takes off this month as Newport Polo begins its countdown to 2026—its 150th anniversary as America’s first polo club—the stage is set for an extraordinary season of global homecomings. From every corner of the polo world, our greatest international rivals will return to the grounds where American polo began, to celebrate a century and a half of sport, friendship, and international exchange.
Leading the charge are two nations whose rivalries with Newport are as vibrant as they are storied: Jamaica and England.
The season will be in high gear when Jamaica bring their signature flair and island rhythm back to Newport on August 22, rekindling one of our fans most festive matchups. Making its Polo Series debut in 1994, Jamaica will return for its 25th contest against USA. Then, on September 5, historic England ride in for a storied clash—an encounter steeped in tradition, pride, and the timeless roots that link Newport to the global sport itself. England is a continual rival from the Polo Series’ 1992 inaugural season.
These two fixtures mark the first chapter in a global countdown celebrating the Club’s 38 international rivals—with more global contenders to be revealed each month leading up to the 150th Diamond Jubilee in 2026. From old friends to fierce foes, each nation’s return is a toast to the enduring legacy of international polo—and to Newport’s legacy as the cradle of American polo.
Stay tuned as we continue unveiling the lineup from 38 nations that have shaped our history and will soon write its next great chapter. The world is returning to Newport in 2026—and the best is yet to come.
